Tight Spread

Spread is the gap between the bid and the ask prices of a security or asset, like a stock, bond, or commodity (also known as bid-ask spread). This is one of the costs of trading. The higher the spread, the lower profit you will get in the end.

Example: the figure below indicates the sell price and buy price of a pair of currency. As shown, the pair is sold at 1.30855 while those who want to buy much pay 1.30870. The difference between these two numbers is 1.5 – which is the spread.

Spread is a cost, because if you buy an asset and then immediately sell it, you will lose an exact amount of spread (not including other fees or other costs). That is the reason why you really need to care about the spread. Spread is something every trader should have a look at when choosing their broker, because the spread for an asset in different brokers may not be the same.
